Account and data deletion
Delete your Bhava account, or some of your data
You can delete your Bhava account and its data yourself in the app, on iPhone or Android, at any time, or remove some of your data and keep your account. Can’t open the app, or want something deleted that you can’t remove yourself? Ask us below and we’ll delete it for you. Bhava is made by Sphnix, Inc.
Delete it in the app
The quickest way. It takes a minute, and deleting starts as soon as you confirm.
On iPhone
Members
- Open Bhava and tap your photo at the top right to open You.
- Tap the gear at the top right to open Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Tap Continue, type DELETE, then tap Delete forever.
Family accounts
Tap your photo at the top of Matches (or Settings on your first screen), then Delete my account. Type DELETE and tap Delete forever.
Have Bhava Plus? Deleting your account doesn’t cancel it. Cancel first in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
On Android
Members
- Open Bhava and tap your photo at the top right to open You.
- Tap the gear at the top right to open Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Tap Continue, type DELETE, then tap Delete forever.
Family accounts
Tap your photo at the top of Matches (or Settings on your first screen), then Delete my account. Type DELETE and tap Delete forever.
Have Bhava Plus? Deleting your account doesn’t cancel it. Cancel first in the Play Store → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Just need a break? Pause your profile instead (You → Pause my profile). You stop appearing in new Drops, nothing is deleted, and you can come back any time.
Delete some of your data (keep your account)
Remove these yourself in the app. The steps are the same on iPhone and Android: start from You (tap your photo at the top right) or Chats.
Photos
You → Edit profile, tap × on a photo → Remove
It comes off your profile straight away. To replace it, add a new one and tap Save. The file itself is erased when you delete your account, or sooner if you ask us below.
Your answers
You → Your answers → Edit, tap Remove, then Save
The answer is deleted from your profile.
Your words, work and background
You → Edit profile, empty a field, then Save
In your words, What you do, Religion, Community and Mother tongue. A field you empty is deleted from your profile.
About you
You → About you → Edit, empty a field, then Save
Education, Citizenship and Visa status. Height, diet, habits, marriage, children and family can be changed, not emptied.
Who you’re looking for
You → Who you’re looking for → Edit, untick, then Save
Community, Languages, Marital status, Diet and Deal-breakers can be left empty. Age, height, distance, education and Manglik can be changed, not emptied.
Family details
You → Family → Family details → Edit, empty a field, then Save
Gotra, native place, your parents’ names and work, and annual income.
A family member
You → Family, tap Remove by their name → Remove
They stop seeing your matches straight away. Notes and suggestions they already left stay with you.
Unmatch someone
Chats, open the chat, tap ••• at the top right → Unmatch (or touch and hold the chat in Chats)
Your match ends and the chat closes for both of you. Its messages are kept until one of you deletes your account; to have them deleted sooner, block instead, or ask us below.
Block someone
Chats, open the chat, tap ••• at the top right → Block
Removes your match, and deletes your chat for both of you, with its photos and voice notes. If you report them instead, we keep the chat as evidence (see What we keep).
Pause your profile
You → Pause my profile → Pause
Hides you from new Drops. This isn’t deletion: nothing is deleted, and your matches and chats stay.
Needed to match you. Your name, gender, date, time and place of birth (your chart comes from them), your phone number and how you sign in stay for as long as you have an account. To remove them, delete your account.
Anything else? An old chat, photos you’ve removed, your spot on a city list, your messages to support: ask us below. Once you’ve confirmed it’s you, we delete it within 30 days, or tell you why we have to keep it.
What gets deleted with your account
Whether you delete in the app or we do it for you, the same thing happens.
- Your account and sign-in: Apple, Google or phone number. If you signed in with Apple, the iPhone app also removes Bhava’s access to your Apple ID.
- Your profile: photos, bio, answers, date, time and place of birth, your chart, partner preferences, phone number and email.
- Your chats, with their photos and voice notes, for both of you.
- Your likes, passes and matches, including where they show in other members’ accounts, and replies you sent with a like.
- Your activity: the Drops you were shown, undos, profile views you made and received, vibe check answers and your streak.
- Family: your family links, and the notes and suggestions made by you or for you.
- Invites you sent and your invite code, and city list spots you saved by signing in on bhavapp.com.
- Everything else tied to your account: reminder emails, introduction and visibility records, and any photo verification selfie still waiting for review.
Deleting normally finishes within minutes of confirming. Some information may stay in backups for up to 30 days before it’s permanently deleted.
What we keep, and for how long
A few records stay after deletion, for safety, the law and disputes. None of them is shown to anyone on Bhava.

Ask us to delete it
Can’t open the app, or want something deleted that you can’t remove yourself? Tell us the email address or phone number on your account and what to delete, and we’ll do it for you. We’ll check the request comes from you first, so nobody can delete your account or your data but you.
Or email privacy@bhavapp.com from the email address on your account, with “Delete my account” in the subject, or “Delete some of my data” and what to delete.
